12 Beers of Christmas, Day 5: Lancaster Winter Warmer Ale

Day #5 brings a Pennsylvania beer, another one that I haven’t had.

Region: Lancaster, PA
Style:
 Winter Warmer
Appearance: Dark brown, clear, small white head
Aroma: Sweet, nutty, malty, caramel
ABV: 8.9%

Virginia Pour House Notes: This beer pours a dark molasses brown, mostly clear with a very small white head. The aroma is malty, slightly sweet, and nutty with some caramel notes. The taste is slightly sweet with nutty notes and medium body. The body is actually lighter than I expected for the ABV. Otherwise, this beer is what I would expect from a winter warmer. It features some nice dark malt, mild spice, and a slight bitterness in the finish. Overall, not a bad beer.
