Morais Vineyards & Winery; Paradise with Portuguese Charm in Bealeton

After my first visit a few months back to Morais Vineyards, I was impressed by the beauty of the grounds, the impeccable hospitality, the friendliness of the staff, and the promise in the wine. After taking a tour through the facility, from the grand ballroom, to the cellar containing the crush beds and the wine cellar, to the patio, and tasting room, I couldn’t be more impressed. The main building resembles that of a mansion in Sicily, with circle driveway in front, gorgeous water fountain, and the vineyards at the edge of the tasting room. As you come up the driveway, greeting you is the Morais decorated 1950’s Ford Truck with wine barrels stacked in the back. On the right is a small chapel surrounded on all sides by Vineyard. This vineyard is gorgeous! As I set foot in the tasting room, my two favorite tasting room people, Noreen and …

Morais Vineyards & Winery Red Select; #WW Wine Wednesday

This amazing blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot exhibits subtle fruit backed by a toasty oak and spice laced nose. Bountiful blackberry flavors jump out of the glass with a good acidity and smooth floral undertone that is accented by a light spice. The Red Select finishes off with soft tannins and carries forth smooth earthy undertones. This is a great wine to enjoy with just about any dish. This evening I paired it with roasted chicken, grilled asparagus, and sweet potato wedges. The truth is for just under $20 you’re missing out if you don’t grab a bottle of the Red Select. Be on the lookout for the upcoming review on Morais Vineyards & Winery coming next week. Overall Rating: 89 Points

Fauquier Board Of Supervisors’ Pass anti-winery Ordinance; Jim Law changes name to Benedict Arnold

For those of you who have not heard, the Fauquier Board Of Supervisors passed the anti-winery Ordinance. Vote: AGAINST (1), Sherbeyn; FOR (4), Granger, Stribling, Trumbo, Schwartz. Interested in sounding off to those FOR? Here are their emails, have at it. kim.johnson@fauquiercounty.gov Peter.Schwartz@fauquiercounty.gov Holder.Trumbo@fauquiercounty.gov chester.stribling@fauquiercounty.gov lee.sherbeyn@fauquiercounty.gov chris.granger@fauquiercounty.gov I first want to thank the Swirl, Sip, and Snark duo for the excellent coverage of the meeting last night. There is a link at the bottom of this post which summarizes the fireworks from the meeting, through the eyes of GrapeEnvyGuy on Swirl, Sip, and Snark Blog. The shocker of the evening had to be Jim Law, of Linden, coming out in support of the ordinance. PAUSE. Let’s be honest, Jim, you started your winery on your family trust, you had wiggle room to fail and got away without relying on events because of your infinite amounts of funding. MOST OF THESE …
