Carrying on to a supple fruit driven finish, tannins warm all the way down and leave behind sweet cola notes. Shaw Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2011 Producer: Shaw Vineyard & Winery Region: Seneca Lake AVA, Finger Lakes AVA, New York, USA Price: $18 Vintage: 2011 Varietals: 100% Sauvignon Blanc ABV: 13% Virginia Pour House Notes: Notes of citrus and grass lead the nose with bright acidity shining on the palate adding nuances of honeysuckle up front followed closely by crisp, white peach and hints of lemongrass. A creamy palate texture and a smooth finish with just a touch of zest towards the back palate concludes New York State white gem. We originally opened this bottle in the Spring, but it had held up very well and still had bold acidity. Rooster Hill Estate Cabernet Franc-Lemberger 2011 Producer: Rooster Hill Vineyards Region: Keuka Lake, Finger Lakes AVA, New York, USA Price: $19.99 Vintage: 2011 Varietals: 70% Cabernet Franc / 30% Lemberger ABV: 12.4% Virginia Pour House Notes: This deep, red Cabernet Franc dominated wine shows off a typical peppery yet spice driven aroma that added dried black cherry and blackberry flavors to coat the palate. While the palate is exentuated by bone-dry, peppery tannins that drive from front to back right down the middle of the palate. Two Twisted Posts Chardonnay 2012 Producer: Two Twisted Posts Winery Region: Loudoun County, Northern Virginia, Virginia, USA Price: $33 Vintage: 2012 Varietals: 100% Chardonnay ABV: 13.8% Virginia Pour House Notes: Creamy vanilla and nutty aromas lead while the palate is caressed by the same smooth, rich and creamy qualities with added nuances of light spice, crisp apple and hints of citrus. The finish follows suit and lingers in a lengthy manner adding in a coating of nutty oak. A gorgeous balance that incorporates just enough oak to smooth out the structure and add that gentle creaminess without the overbearing buttery character. The finish really shows off the tart lime qualities that were shown early on, but are subtle towards the back palate. Overall, a decent Riesling, but could use some time to settle that tart quality.
