Ram’s Gate Carneros Chardonnay 2011 Producer: Ram’s Gate Winery Region: Carneros AVA, California, United States Price: $36 Vintage: 2011 Varietals: 100% Chardonnay ABV: 13.3% Virginia Pour House Notes:  Gorgeous, deep golden color with moderate aromatics of mellowed fruit, candied apple, asian pear and tropical fruit. Subtle floral and light buttery undertones lead to an extremely creamy palate with light, toasty oak, almond, vanilla and light, buttery notes. The back palate shows off nice toast qualities with fresh acidity and a toasted oak with a hint of spice on the finish. Excellent, medium-full bodied structure that is creamy, soft and very smooth. Not overly buttery with more toasty quality but enough of that creamy structure and mellowed fruit. This Chardonnay is drinking perfectly right now. Two Twisted Posts Chardonnay 2012 Producer: Two Twisted Posts Winery Region: Loudoun County, Northern Virginia, Virginia, USA Price: $33 Vintage: 2012 Varietals: 100% Chardonnay ABV: 13.8% Virginia Pour House Notes: Creamy vanilla and nutty aromas lead while the palate is caressed by the same smooth, rich and creamy qualities with added nuances of light spice, crisp apple and hints of citrus. The finish follows suit and lingers in a lengthy manner adding in a coating of nutty oak. A gorgeous balance that incorporates just enough oak to smooth out the structure and add that gentle creaminess without the overbearing buttery character. Producer: Hosmer Winery Region: Finger Lakes AVA, Cayuga Lake AVA, New York, United States Price: $14 Vintage: 2012 Varietals: Chardonnay; (13.1% ABV) Virginia Pour House Notes: A faint golden hue and subtle aromatics, this youthful Finger Lakes Chardonnay is showing some impressive complexities. Layers upon layers tout nuances of floral, lime, toasty oak, apricot, and pineapple notes, while showing a nice medium-bodied structure and crisp mineral finish. With a little bit more bottle age the expressive acidity on the palate will settle down a little bit and develop really nicely. This wine is perfectly balanced with enough oak to smooth out and weight the bodies profile, but not drench the palate with butter. Nice, medium bodied structure and smooth acidity. This Chardonnay has a creamy mouth feel but maintains its structure with just a hint of toasty oak on the clean and refreshing finish. Twin Oaks Tavern 2009 Chardonnay; Happy Wine Wednesday

For the past week I have been in Chicago for work, so this evening the last thing I wanted to do was cook dinner. What I did want to do is destroy some Chinese food in a bad way. So without hesitation, an order of Kung Pao Chicken with Chicken Fried Rice and Crab Rangoons were ordered. Now being Wine Wednesday (How could I forget), I decided that my selection would have to be a good one to compliment my wine, and my second viewing of the movie ‘Bottle Shock’. From the wine rack I reach and pull out on the first pull Twin Oaks Tavern 2009 Chardonnay. Recently visiting and soon to be reviewing, I decided why the hell not refrigerate this bottle and pair this up with my meal.
