Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars; My First Finger Lakes Visit

A few months back, a mid-winter celebration with some of my girlfriend’s family in Rochester, New York brought me a golden opportunity to visit the Finger Lakes Region of the country. After speaking to a few other writers and suggestions of other wine enthusiasts, I was without a doubt that Dr. Frank would be the number one visit of the trip.   This man wasn’t just a pioneer for wine in New York, but also for wine in the Northeast and the United States as a whole. Dr. Frank was a professor of plant sciences with his Ph.D. specifically in viticulture. After arriving in this country in 1951, Dr. Frank moved upstate from New York City to take a position at Cornell University’s Geneva Experiment Station. Finger Lakes Wine Alliance: 2011 Riesling Launch Event on Twitter #FLXwine

This year the Finger Lakes Wine Alliance held a media event over Twitter on three separate occasions to open, taste, and discuss the new 2011 vintage of Rieslings being released in the Finger Lakes Region. Over 20 Finger Lakes wineries participated in the virtual tasting and provided wines to 30+ media outlets for the event. Upstate New York; A tour through the Finger Lakes Region

As many of you may notice, I do primarily focus on Virginia but do visit other wine making areas of the country. I have also over the past year or two met and become friends with many other oenophiles and/or influenced friends of mine to become one.  A good friend of mine from work went on a vineyard tour in Upstate New York this past Memorial Day weekend, and wanted to share her experiences in the Finger Lakes Region with all of my readers.
